Support FCS

Why Give to FCS?

Philosophy of the FCS Development Department

The desire of the Development Department at FCS is to make Christ known to FCS families and the community by promoting the mission and purpose of the school.  This purpose will be accomplished by building relationships which support the ministry through financial, community and spiritual support.  Fredericksburg Christian School is a not-for-profit educational institution.  Revenue is received from tuition, fees, endowment and voluntary charitable contributions.  FCS faculty, FCS School Board, parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of the school share in the vision of our school and support the school in a number of invaluable ways.  We are grateful for the gifts of finances and time given by every person who chooses to support our school.  Please take a moment to review the ACSI Cardus Education Survey highlighting the main findings of graduates who attend ACSI accredited schools such as FCS.

Annual Fund

Fredericksburg Christian School's annual income is derived from two primary sources — Tuition & Fees and Annual Donations & Fundraisers.  Our annual donations and fundraisers allow us to further invest in educational enhancements in a variety of areas:  academics, financial aid for special programs, fine arts, facility improvements and athletics.

Development Events and Fundraisers

The school, as a whole, and various school classes, clubs and groups engage in fundraising activities between July 1 and June 30 of each fiscal year.  A variety of events are coordinated through the Development Department such as:  the the Eagle Classic Golf Tournament, the Founders Banquet, Family Fun Day and the Boosterthon Fun-Run. In addition, the Development Department assists clubs and other school organizations with some of their fundraising needs.  We have numerous opportunities for our families to support FCS... many without spending any extra money.  These activities promote friendships within our school family and the community through the volunteer opportunities available with each of these activities.  None of these events would be as successful as they are without the time and dedication of our staff, volunteer parents, grandparents and friends.

Annual Fund Campaign

The Annual Fund is the most effective way to contribute to the ongoing viability of the school.  The Annual Fund Campaign is initiated each fall and concludes at the end of the fiscal year, June 30th.  Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted, which means they are applied to the areas of greatest opportunity.  Funds are used for educational enhancements in a variety of areas: technology, academics, tuition assistance, fine arts, facility improvements and athletics.  FCS is committed to excellence in its faculty members, and we continue to work toward increasing teachers' salaries.

The success of the Annual Fund is evidence of our common, strong belief in Fredericksburg Christian School and our continuing mission of excellence: developing Christ-like character in young people.  Our tradition of giving through volunteerism, participation in school events and commitment to the Annual Fund was initiated with our founders' vision for the school.

Tuition alone does not cover the total cost of providing an outstanding educational experience for each child.  Net tuition accounts for only 88% of the operating income.  The remaining 12% needed to educate each child at FCS must be funded through other means.  The Annual Fund is designed to support the operating budget which directly benefits students and faculty.

However, we also realize that a tuition that truly reflects the actual cost of an FCS education would be beyond the capabilities of many of our families.  A higher tuition would limit the availability of Christian education for many, defeating our mission to the community.  Also, Annual Fund contributions are tax deductible while tuition and fees are not.  That offers a distinct advantage to families able to contribute an additional amount while keeping tuition affordable.

Annual Fund dollars go directly into the operating budget.  Our outstanding faculty, academic program, computer labs, fine arts program, athletic equipment, maintenance, utilities and more are all supported by monies raised during the Annual Fund Campaign.  In addition, approximately 3% of the operating budget is set aside to help families with tuition assistance broadening the base of the community that seeks Christian education.

Capital Campaign

Our Capital Campaigns help fund capital improvements to the school...including buildings and furnishings.

Our current Supporting the Battle Campaign is designed to help fund our Upper School Addition which will contain a multi-purpose room that will be used for athletics, drama productions, music concerts, chapels and lunch.  Locker rooms will be located on the lower level. Classrooms specifically built for art, band, choir, drama and orchestra classes will be included.

Phase 1 of our Upper School Addition is complete.  Many of you have supported us with your contributions and prayers during the planning and building processes, and we hope that you will rejoice with us at what the Lord has done through so many.

This new $2.1 million addition gives the FCS Upper School much needed space so that our Middle School and High School fine arts programs have the space they need to continue to provide excellence in those important areas of our school.  This provision frees up space in the existing building for badly needed space in other classes.  The drama, music, physical education and athletic programs also benefit with added gym space that allows teams to practice and play while the stage is being used for drama productions and music events.  You can see why we are so excited about this milestone in the FCS ministry.

Please continue to pray and give as we raise the needed $325,000 to complete the locker room space below the gym and to professionally outfit the fine arts classrooms and auditorium with the needed furniture and fixtures.  We are also trusting the Lord for contributions to repay the $300,000 that we borrowed to complete the upper floor.  Thank you for your support throughout this entire project.

This is the next step in moving our Lower School Campus operations to the Upper School Campus, giving us one campus in Fredericksburg and one in Stafford.
